چکیده
The relaxation from a non-equilibrium state to the equilibrium depends on methodologies and initial conditions. To investigate microscopic mechanisms of equilibration systematically, we focus response during process induced by disturbance homogeneous expansion simple hard disk systems. Large scale simulations event-driven molecular dynamics revealed that an anomalous slow toward liquid states emerges when starting co-existence phase. origin decay mechanism is investigated using probability distribution local density orientational order parameter.Their inhomogeneities seem cause equilibration.

Aging and ultra-slow equilibration in concentrated colloidal hard spheres
We study the dynamic behaviour of concentrated colloidal hard spheres using Time Resolved Correlation, a light scattering technique that can detect the slow evolution of the dynamics in out-of-equilibrium systems. Surprisingly, equilibrium is reached a very long time after sample initialization, the non-stationary regime lasting up to three orders of magnitude more than the relaxation time of t...

متن کاملEquilibration of energy in slow–fast systems
Ergodicity is a fundamental requirement for a dynamical system to reach a state of statistical equilibrium. However, in systems with several characteristic timescales, the ergodicity of the fast subsystem impedes the equilibration of the whole system because of the presence of an adiabatic invariant. In this paper, we show that violation of ergodicity in the fast dynamics can drive the whole sy...
متن کاملTransport coefficients for dense hard-disk systems.
A study of the transport coefficients of a system of elastic hard disks based on the use of Helfand-Einstein expressions is reported. The self-diffusion, the viscosity, and the heat conductivity are examined with averaging techniques especially appropriate for event-driven molecular dynamics algorithms with periodic boundary conditions. The density and size dependence of the results are analyze...
